Wireless - IP Integration
Anagran products with Fast Flow Technology™ serve as ideal network edge platforms wherever a large number of wireless devices aggregate onto an IP-based network.
For 3G GSM or CDMA-based networks, the FR-1000 can provide fine-tuned traffic management at the key junction between the cellular network and the IP network. When situated between the GPRS Gateway Services Node (GGSN) in a GSM-based network and the IP network for example, the FR-1000 can detect, classify, and manage various types of flows by class. In this way, P2P and other types of traffic that would normally take up as much bandwidth on the IP network as possible as it enters the IP network can be managed to a suitable portion of the network transmission capacity.
Another beneficial capability of the FR-1000 in wireless networks is rate limiting - the ability to limit the amount of traffic that can be sent to or from any network destination by flow class. Now that hand-held wireless devices often send and receive images, video clips, and music, it is important to ensure that these wireless transmissions do not degrade or destroy the quality of wireless voice calls. Since rate limits by flow class can be easily established on the FR-1000, network operators can ensure that VoIP can work with perfect quality to and from any given WiFi hot spot even if other types of bandwidth-hungry traffic are competing at the same time in that location. Long known to be a major drawback of WiFi, the FR-1000 offers a very simple solution to ensure the integrity of voice calls amid other WiFi traffic, while maintaining very high (90+%) link utilization from the WiFi access points into the IP network.
