ANAGRAN APPOINTS RESPECTED INDUSTRY VETERAN JOHN PETERS
Sunnyvale, CA --- November 4, 2008 --- Anagran, Inc., the leading provider of high capacity network traffic management products today announced that John Peters has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer. Peters comes to Anagran with over thirty years of operational experience which includes taking companies to profitability and successful acquisitions.
“Being able to attract a CEO of John’s caliber presents an extraordinary opportunity for Anagran,” said Board member Dan Brown of ArrowPath Venture Partners. “John’s extensive experience in guiding companies from early stage pioneers to market leadership is exactly what Anagran needs at this point in the company’s growth. Quite simply, John delivers—whether it’s meeting revenue objectives, managing expenses, or inspiring the very best from his team. He is a rare find. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”
Prior to joining Anagran, Peters was CEO of Reconnex. During his two and a half years with the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) provider he took the company from its market entry phase to acknowledged market leader in 2007 and 2008. The company was eventually sold to McAfee in September 2008. Prior to Reconnex he was brought in by several venture capital firms to serve as Interim Chief Executive at a number of early to mid-stage communications venture-backed companies. He held this position at such companies as Netli, Inc. and Yipes where he raised customer satisfaction, met revenue objectives and drove the companies to profitability.
Peters has also held executive positions at Concentric Network Corporation, Pacific Bell Information Services and GTE Telenet, where he worked with Dr. Larry Roberts, the founder of Anagran.
“John and I share a long, successful history in networking,” said Dr. Roberts. “We were early believers in packet-based networking, but now we see the limitations of what it can deliver as bandwidth intensive content is cracking the veneer of these first generation networks. Our customers want technology that will help them flawlessly deliver rich media applications such as streaming video and video-on-demand over converged IP networks. We will continue to cost effectively advance that promise to service providers and enterprises around the world.”
Peters holds a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in statistics and an MBA degree, both from Stanford University.
Anagran recently closed a Series D round of funding totaling $8.6 million. Each of the company’s existing venture capital investors – Advanced Technology Ventures, ArrowPath Venture Partners, and Draper Fisher Jurvetson – invested in this latest round. The funding is being used to expand Anagran’s global sales presence and bolster its engineering resources. The company also recently announced that Entiretec purchased five of Anagran’s FR-1000 products for installation in the Movenpick Hotels and Resorts in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The devices will be used to deliver custom HD video, voice and data services. Anagran’s FR-1000 was chosen for the installation after Entiretec evaluated several DPI-based alternatives.
About Anagran
Anagran was founded by Internet pioneer Dr. Larry Roberts, recognized as one of the founding fathers of the Internet. Anagran’s flow-based traffic management products eliminate the potentially crippling effects of network congestion to enable video, voice, data and wireless traffic to economically scale with flawless quality over converged IP networks. Anagran’s FR-1000 protects all key network traffic by managing end-to-end flows based on their behavior to ensure required quality and performance levels. The FR-1000 dynamically manages all network traffic regardless of application, protocol, or format, without using invasive, performance-limiting deep packet inspection (DPI) techniques. Service providers and enterprises can consistently deliver the highest levels of guaranteed performance and quality while significantly reducing capital equipment and recurring network costs.
