ANAGRAN NAMES BILL BECKETT VP AND GENERAL MANAGER OF ASIA SALES OPERATIONS
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – September 19, 2007 – Anagran, Inc., the sole provider of intelligent flow-based routers, today announced that Bill Beckett has been named vice president and general manager of Asia sales operations. Beckett is a 17-year veteran of the telecommunications industry, having held various sales, marketing, operations and engineering roles.
“The Asia-Pacific region leads the world in the deployment of true broadband applications and next-generation Internet infrastructure,” said Anagran founder and CEO, Dr. Lawrence Roberts. “Quad-play and P2P traffic are exploding in this critical market. And the growing broadband content mix is driving enthusiastic demand for our Anagran FR-1000 router. Bill’s track record of deeply understanding technology and growing sales and support in this geography by building strong customer rapport and talented teams, will help us meet the growing demands of carriers, enterprises, and their customers.”
Beckett comes to Anagran after serving as director, sales engineering and consulting for Tellabs Asia-Pacific where he was instrumental in building Tellabs’ data business from scratch with tier-one carriers in Japan, China, Korea, South Asia and Australia.
“Broadband access and quad-play applications have grown so quickly and by so much throughout this region, the traditional approach of over-spending on transmission and router ports simply cannot economically keep pace. With flow routing and the FR-1000 I believe Anagran has the first economical solution to scaling broadband video and quad-play traffic,” said Beckett. “I’ve lived and worked in this region for most of the past decade and understand the urgent need for a more powerful yet more economical edge routing platform. I am positive flow-based routing is required in NGN IP networks and pleased to assist Anagran in demonstrating the benefits to customers’ network quality, service realization and cost savings.”
Prior to Tellabs, Beckett served as director of consulting engineering for Vivace Networks, where he drove the successful acquisition of Vivace’s first customers, MCI and NTT, which led to the Tellabs (NASDAQ: TLAB) acquisition of Vivace in 2003. Bill also served as director of services and support at Mayan Networks, executive director of engineering at Allied Riser Communications, and in various engineering and operations roles at Onstream Networks (acquired by 3Com), MFS Datanet (now Verizon) and British Telecom North America.
