Dr. Larry Roberts to Deliver Keynote on “Internet Evolution” at SHARKFEST ’09
Founder and Chairman of Anagran Key Presenter at 2nd Annual Wireshark®
Training Summit at Stanford University
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – (February 18, 2009) – Anagran, Inc., the leading provider of high capacity network traffic management products, today announced that Dr. Lawrence G. Roberts, Anagran Founder and Chairman, will deliver a keynote titled “Internet Evolution” at the second annual SHARKFEST Developer and User Conference for open source network analyzer Wireshark. Taking place at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, June 15-18, 2009, SHARKFEST ’09 is hosted by CACE Technologies and Wireshark University (WSU).
“As the defacto standard for traffic analysis, Wireshark plays an important role in the development of products that help the Internet scale,” said Dr. Roberts. “CACE Technologies and Wireshark help our engineers collect and analyze the statistics associated with our IP traffic flows, which is an important element of our product development process. As the exponential influx of bandwidth-heavy applications that congest the Internet continue to pose challenges for all of us, Wireshark becomes an even more valuable tool. I’m honored to address the innovators that help to facilitate this important work.”
Recognized as one of the world's foremost authorities on packet switching and network architectures, Dr. Roberts led the team that designed and developed ARPANET, the world's first major computer packet network which evolved into the modern Internet. He and three others credited with founding the Internet were recipients of engineering's highest honor, the National Academy of Engineering's 2001 Draper Award.
“Keynotes by industry pioneers are a much-anticipated part of the SHARKFEST experience,” proclaimed Gerald Combs, Wireshark creator and Director of Open Source Projects at CACE Technologies. “Last year, Dr. Vint Cerf, one of the fathers of the Internet and now Google Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist, delivered a compelling presentation on non-discriminatory network service. This year, our event once again will be lent a great measure of distinction through the presentation by another Internet father, Dr. Larry Roberts. Dr. Roberts’ presentation on the evolution of the Internet is certain to engage and enlighten the audience of developers, network engineers, and users that attend our training summit.”
An educational event that offers in-depth instruction through 40 sessions over the course of 3 days, SHARKFEST covers network analysis, troubleshooting, security, Wireshark development, communications dissection and more. The latest agenda and other conference details can be found on the main information and event registration web page at http://www.cacetech.com/sharkfest.09/.
About Anagran
Anagran was founded by Internet pioneer Dr. Larry Roberts, recognized as one of the founding fathers of the Internet. Anagran’s flow-based traffic management products eliminate the potentially crippling effects of network congestion to enable video, voice, data and wireless traffic to economically scale with flawless quality over converged IP networks. Anagran’s FR-1000 protects all key network traffic by managing end-to-end flows based on their behavior to ensure required quality and performance levels. The FR-1000 dynamically manages all network traffic regardless of application, protocol, or format, without using invasive, performance-limiting deep packet inspection (DPI) techniques. Service providers and enterprises can consistently deliver the highest levels of guaranteed performance and quality while significantly reducing capital equipment and recurring network costs.
