Anagran’s FR-1000 Internet Traffic Manager Receives USDA Rural Utility Service (RUS) Acceptance

Rural Telecommunications Companies May Use Broadband Stimulus Funding to Deliver Superior Customer Quality of Experience and Lower Network Costs

February 8, 2011 — Sunnyvale, Calif. — Anagran, Inc, the leader in IP flow-based Internet traffic management solutions, today announced its FR-1000 Internet Traffic Manager has been accepted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service (RUS) and added to the List of Materials Acceptable for Use on RUS Financed Projects.  Now, rural telecommunication companies, including wireless and wireline carriers and cable operators may use RUS and broadband stimulus funds to optimize  their Internet customers’ quality of experience and minimize their network infrastructure costs.

“Anagran is very excited to have received RUS Acceptance for our market leading internet traffic manager solutions,” said Tim Waters, VP of Marketing, Anagran, Inc.  “Rural telecommunications companies are working hard to respond to the ever increasing demands of bandwidth-intensive and quality-sensitive applications such as Internet video. Anagran’s IP flow-based FR-1000 offers a cost effective method to significantly improve network utilization, increase customer satisfaction, while reducing both capital and operating costs.  We are proud to participate in this critically important national program focused on building and improving broadband telecommunications infrastructure and services for our rural communities.”

Designed to significantly improve operators’ network utilization, manage multimedia IP traffic and improve overall customer quality of experience (QoE), Anagran’s FR-1000 is an advanced Internet traffic manager (ITM) that allows service providers of all types to reduce the cost of network capacity and increase usable bandwidth.

The FR-1000 leverages Anagran’s innovative IP Flow State (IFS) technologies including flow classification, control, prioritization, delivery and management, as well as host (subscriber/user) equalization and behavioral recognition algorithms. In addition to creating a more efficient, deterministic environment, the FR-1000 can be used to mitigate the bandwidth consumed by aggressive peer-to-peer file sharing applications, thereby minimizing their impact on other users. Furthermore, the FR-1000 can be deployed in existing multi-vendor networks to ensure that “quality sensitive” applications such as over-the-top (OTT) video, on-line gaming, and voice over IP (VoIP) receive sufficient bandwidth to deliver the quality that broadband subscribers expect.
